  • Fransk politi i millionbesparelse med skifte til Ubuntu

    En rapport har for nyligt vist, at det franske politi, Gendarmeriet, har sparet anslået 50 mio. euroes i softwarelicenser, siden siden de skiftede en andel af deres computere fra Microsoft Windows til Ubuntu. Det svarer til omkring 370 mio DKr, og er på kun godt 1/3 af politiets maskiner.

    Politiet startede skiftet i 2004, hvor de udskiftede Microsoft Office med OpenOffice på alle arbejdsstationer. Da de stod overfor at skulle skifte til Windows Vista, valgte politiet i stedet for at lade visse arbejdstationer skifte til Ubuntu i stedet, og det har hidtil været en stor succes.
